Mumbai FC looks to get back on track against Sporting Clube de Goa in Round 15 of the ONGC I-League at the PJN Stadium, Goa today.
Back to winning ways...
The Mumbai team enjoyed a ten game unbeaten streak, which ended with back to back losses against Viva Kerala and Dempo.
Mumbai has managed to hold position just in the middle of the I-League table in spite of having lost six points in the last two games. Keen to climb up at the earliest, Khalid Jamil’s boys will look to seize the initiative from Sporting.
Coming back directly from a hard fought defeat to Dempo, Mumbai is confident enough to earn three points. They are better placed than their opponents and would enter the game as favorites.
Khalid Jamil has a fully fit squad to choose from. Noel Wilson is back and Captain and Indian International Abhishek Yadav is raring to go having scored a brace in the last match against Dempo.
Do Or Die...
The bottom table Goan team still hasn’t won a single match in this season’s I-League, collecting a meager six points in process.
Being one of the favorites to take the drop, Sporting shall look to bank on home advantage against the Mumbaikars.
Fresh from the 1-1 draw against Air India, the Flaming Oranje are trying hard to put up some good performances. Their squad currently has no injury concerns, which leaves a strong possibility for them to come up with surprises.
Their strike force lacks firepower as Junior Elijah and Nathaniel Amos haven’t reached close to the standards they set for themselves last season. Michael Tayo seems to have forgotten the good form he enjoyed with Air India for two seasons. The Goan side needs to find an inspiration from somewhere.
No major injury worries for Sporting Club de Goa except Bisheshwor Singh who injured himself in the Police Cup finals against Vasco SC. Joseph Pereira won the Man of the Match award against Air India and the Sporting captain will have to do a lot more if they are to survive in the I-League.
Cheer for Mumbai!
