The award ceremony was held on the sprawling lawns of the Hari Niwas Palace, the erstwhile palace of Maharaja Hari Singh, in Jammu. Besides Ashish, the other recipients of the award were veteran singer Jagjit Singh and noted writer director Ravi Rai.
