Zee Limelight’s latest offering Gulaal hits theatres today. This contemporary film is set in the backdrop of college politics and regionalism. The project is close to director Anurag Kashyap’s heart. It took shape in 2001, when Kashyap was listening to songs from Pyaasa and ‘Paanch’ and was struggling with censors. Inspired by a song from Pyaasa, “Yeh duniya agar mil bhi jaaye to kya hai”, the film is a dedication to Sahir Ludhianwi, the lyricist of the song and all other poets who had a vision of India.
The film has already created buzz in the film circuit and has won critical acclaim. Noted Film Director Sudhir Mishra says about the film, “Stunning! Anurag Kashyap takes you on a journey that is simultaneously exhilarating and terrifying.”
Talking on Gulaal, Director Imtiaz Ali said, “These are colours of the real young India. Magnificent movie – moving, entertaining. Don’t miss this one.” Timeout has given the movie four stars.
With such reviews Gulaal is definitely a must watch! Essel Newsletter urges its readers to go see the film with family and friends.
