ZEE Entertainment participated in NATPE ( National Association of Television Program Executives) presenting series available in Spanish: the family dramas Begusarai and the period drama- Jodha Akbar. Rajeev Kheror, president of Strategy and International Business at ZEE Entertainment, said that Latin America is a critical market for the world, since the soap opera comes from and is extremely popular in that region and specially now when viewers consume content from around the world. "It is a great way of storytelling. That, and the fact that people spend a lot of time watching television, makes it a very important market," said the executive.
This is one of the reasons behind presenting a varied offering of family & historical dramas along with an important library of Bollywood movies that sell very well, especially those starring actor Shah Rukh Khan. This year, Zee Mundo will launch new movies on the channel, which will be available for the first time to Hispanic audiences.
The goals for 2018 are to launch an Application with Bollywood films, and increase the distribution in Latin American markets such as Argentina, Chile, Peru, Guatemala. "We will also be launching on small platforms in Latin America," Kheror said.
