In a significant morale boosting ceremony held at the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium, Hyderabad, before the start of ICL 20s World Series, 17 Indian players were drafted into the first ICL-India team with the symbolic receipt of the ICL-India cap from the legendary Kapil Dev, who is also the Chairman of the ICL’s,Executive Board.
“At ICL, it is an extremely proud moment for us today. In this ICL 20s World Series, our promising domestic boys face the toughest challenge of proving their cricketing credentials against two of the mightiest teams in the world. I am sure, this series will display good quality cricket for the patrons of the game," Kapil Dev said.
With exhilarating performances throughout the recently concluded Edelweiss 20s Challenge, the Indian boys have caught the imagination of the cricketing world and in turn raising expectations amongst the Indian cricket fans, when they take on two formidable international sides in their stiffest challenge on the ICL platform.
Captained by the talented Chennai Superstars middle order batsman R Sathish, the ICL-India side built under the watchful eyes of the experienced Steve Rixon, who is ICL-India coach, exhibits some of the best exciting stroke players with crafty spinners and courageous fast bowlers in the country.
The high octane 20 over format match will be broadcasted live on Ten Sports and Zee Sports from 7pm to 10pm.
