New Session at ZIMA Noida for 2017-2018 begins with academic fervour

With a galaxy of esteemed guests, the new academic session for 2017-2018 had a formal beginning at ZIMA Noida on August 30. The function was attended by more than 35 students including one alumnus and one student of the previous batch.

 
The esteemed guests at the function were Mr. Sushil Joshi, Chief Human Resources Officer, ZMCL, Ms. Ruchira Srivastava, Head - HR, ZMCL, Mr. Mehraj Dube, Head - Marketing, ZMCL and Mr. Pallaw Kumar, Senior Brand Manager, ZMCL,


Sharing their experience with the students, the alumni Ms. Marisha Srivastava and Mr. Varun Bhasin informed the freshers about how they benefited from ZIMA and appreciated the guidance provided by Dr. Ambrish Saxena during studies, internship and placement.


"With great power come great responsibilities" was aptly quoted by Mr. Mehraj Dube while addressing the students at the function. He encouraged the students with a note of caution, and added that".... being a journalist is a big power, and a good journalist is one who uses this power with great care and responsibility”.
Mr. Sushil Joshi laid emphasis on the futuristic trend in Journalism, and introduced the students to the latest concept of tri-lingual and tri-format Journalism. He told the students that ZEE has taken a lead in this direction, as it has decided to train and employ journalists in pursuance of this concept.


Ms. Ruchira Srivastava elucidated the qualities that one should possess or acquire if he/she aspires to take a job in Zee Media. Also, she discussed with the students that how these qualities can be refined and inculcated while studying at ZIMA Noida. She congratulated the students for being in ZIMA Noida and asked them to make apt use of this opportunity.


Final words of advice came from Mr. Pallaw Kumar, Senior Brand Manager, ZMCL, who encouraged students not only to take interest in journalism, but also explore Media Marketing.


Delivering the inaugural speech, Prof. (Dr.) Ambrish Saxena, Academic Head, ZIMA and ZICA, expressed gratitude to Mr. Joshi, Mr. Dube, Ms. Srivastava and Mr. Pallaw for sparing their valuable time to be with the students. He apprised the students of the various aspects of journalism and the latest trends. Also, he discussed the importance of ethics in journalism.


The session began with Ms. Deepa Zutshi, senior faculty at ZIMA, welcoming the guests and the students. She thanked the guests for their presence and inspiring the budding journalists. Ms. Lakhvinder, senior counsellor, coordinated with the freshers and ensured smooth conduct of the function.
