Rajya Sabha MP, Subhash Chandra enlightens students of Devi Ahilya University, Indore

Nov 14, 2017

Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Subhash Chandra addressed over 800 enthusiastic students of Devi Ahilya University, Indore, for the next episodes of India's popular motivational youth show, the 'Subhash Chandra Show'. During these episodes, he shared his views on 'Understanding the Concept of Happiness' and 'The Purpose of Life'. The 'Subhash Chandra Show' has returned to screens with a fresh look and format with an aim to showcase inspirational stories of people from different backgrounds. The episodes shot in Indore will be telecasted on Zee Media's channels on November 25th and December 2nd respectively.

For the first episode, the guest invited was Mr. Ranjeet Singh, a Traffic Constable from Indore who has become famous as the 'Dancing Cop' as he has been inspiring residents to follow traffic rules and signals just by dancing while controlling traffic since the last 12 years. The change-maker invited for this episode was Ms. Disha Tiwari, a 13-year-old girl and anti-smoking crusader who has got more than 1,000 smokers to sign up for her quit-smoking campaign while around 5,000 have been counselled by her about the ill-effects of smoking.

The inspirational guest invited for the second episode was Mr. Harinarayana Chavan Mishra, Deputy Inspector General, Indore who has constituted a police team- Aaalamban which helps elderly people of Indore who are away from their children, have problems with their children for some reason or have health and safety problems. The Indore Police provides medicines to these elderly patients at a rate of 40% less than the rates of medicines available in the market and so far, more than 10,000 elderly people have joined this campaign. Mr. Gyanendra Purohit, Founder, Anand Service Society was invited as the change-maker for this episode as he and his wife have been giving voice to the deaf and mute people in Indore since the past 20 years.

Providing valuable insights on 'Understanding the Concept of Happiness', Subhash Chandra said, “Gautam Buddha rightly stated that happiness will not come to you, it can only come from you. Happiness is a choice, not a result. While we look for happiness from external factors like material objects, relationships, achievements, fame and power, it is actually our reaction and response that creates thoughts of happiness or unhappiness and not the situations themselves. Thus, happiness irrespective of a stimulus or situation is possible, and we need to train ourselves to understand that nothing can make us happy unless we choose to be happy.”

Elaborating on 'The Purpose of Life', Subhashji added, “It is important to have a purpose in life because it gives your life more zest, more flavor and more fullness. With a purpose in life, you feel a connection with something larger, something that will allow you to make your mark on the world and to truly make a difference. But until you find this purpose, you need to devote your whole heart and soul into finding it. However, while searching for it, you must remember to enjoy the beautiful journey which finally leads you to your purpose.”
