TV news reporting has always been fascinating for budding journalists and this was possibly the motivating factor for the young minds to come over to ZIMA Noida, and attend a Workshop on Reporting conducted by senior broadcast journalist Ms. Alokananda Sen Awasthi on March 4. Journalism and mass communication students from four institutions of Delhi and NCR participated in this workshop.
The Reporting Workshop covered the basics of reporting, with emphasis on TV News. Ms. Alokananda apprised the students on various reporting beats, while telling the students how to file a report. The students got the opportunity of doing hands-on assignments, which contributed significantly to their learning and cognition.
Ms. Alokananda made a successful attempt at transferring her experience of reporting to the students while infusing in them the skills of report writing. The core areas covered in the workshop included report writing for TV, qualities of a good reporter and 3 As of journalism i.e. accuracy, accountability and attribution.
The workshop was attended by students from the Department of Film and TV at Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies (VIPS) and Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology (MAIT), New Delhi. Few students of BLS Institute of Technology Management had come all the way from Bahadurgarh (Haryana) to attend this workshop.
This was the second workshop conducted by Ms. Alokananda. Earlier, she had conducted a workshop on scriptwriting. Dr. Ambrish Saxena, Academic Head of ZIMA/ZICA, expressed gratitude to her for conducting the workshop. Ms. Deepa Zutshi, senior faculty, ZIMA, made the introductory remarks during the workshop while Ms. Lakhvinder Kaur welcomed the resource person.
At the end of the workshop, the students were given participation certificates by Ms. Alokananda and Dr. Ambrish Saxena.
