Thiagarajan adopts five Ekal schools

H. Thiagarajan of Zee Dubai has shown the way by adopting five schools run by Ekal Vidyalaya, in his personal capacity. "In April 2008, Chairman Subhash Chandra visited the Dubai office. I managed to attend his meeting at the fag end. That was when the Chairman was speaking about Ekal's mission to eradicate illiteracy. In those ten minutes, I decided that I should contribute my mite to be noble cause," he says.



Ekal Vidyalaya, a charitable trust has unveiled an ambitious project to eradicate illiteracy from tribal India by the year 2011. With just Rs 16, 000 per year one can adopt a school and be a part of this mission.


The five schools adopted by Thiagarajan are located in the rural parts of India. Until now his contribution has only monetary but on his next visit to India he plans to visit these locations.


Thiagarajanís family is extremely supportive of his effort. ďEach employee can comfortably adopt one school. It will not make a big difference to the person who adopts the school but for the children we support it will make a difference to the way they spend their lives,Ē says Thiagarajan.
