Worldwide reco for Zee News show

Oct 16, 2007
Oct 16, 2007  The Zee News programme Main Jeena Chahta Hoon (I Want to Live) by Zee News producer Rajeet Sinha has been short-listed in the final six for the Association Of International Broadcasting (AIB) Media Excellence Awards in London. The programme is short-listed in the category of best programme dealing with a topical issue on television. Main Jeena Chahta Hoon looked at the issue of provision of HIV/ AIDS drugs through the eyes of Umashankar Panday – a HIV+ person and President of the Kachchh Network of Positive People. Having enjoyed a healthy family life with support from first line anti-retroviral therapy (ART) since 1997, Umashankar was worried if he could afford the second line ART considering its high cost. “It was his heart-touching e-mail that struck me and I tried to make voices like his heard, through this report,” said Rajeet. The AIB is a global competition where the best compete for the coveted prize. This makes Main Jeena Chahta Hoon one of the top six programmes worldwide. “I am honoured that my programme has received this recognition. I look forward to receiving the award for Zee News,” said an elated Rajeet. Main Jeena Chahta Hoon had earlier won the EU- India Media Awards 2006, in the television category.
