Diepdale Secondary School in Diepkloof, Soweto, Gauteng now features a new state-of-the-art Physical Science and Math infrastructure, which includes two fully equipped laboratories and nine classrooms.
Established by community upliftment NGO, the SAME Foundation, Zee Africa and various stakeholders, the new infrastructure will benefit 800 learners with a focus on grades 10 to 12.
Diepdale is a quintile one ranked school which means it serves a very poor community and as a result the school was in dire need of infrastructure, resources and support.
Zee Africa contributed towards the establishment of one fully equipped math classroom. "It is an absolute privilege to be involved with the Diepdale School initiative; as an organisation we hope to contribute to an education environment where learners can flourish and become successful adults," adds Harish Goyal, Chief Executive Officer - Asia Pacific & Africa.
The Diepdale Secondary School project will give learners and teachers access to all the resources they need to follow the curriculum effectively - all in a learning-conducive environment.
The Physical Science and Math infrastructure includes interactive e-learning systems in each of the classrooms which also include learning software. Other resources comprise new math dictionaries, study guides, calculators and math kits.
