Zee TV Africa is proud to be the official media partner for the United Nations designated International Day of Yoga in South Africa. The day, June 21 is recognized as a unifying one, where mind soul and body are unified, and fittingly it is also being celebrated to unite South Africans, nationally- to bring South Africans together to create awareness of yoga.
Hosted in conjunction with the Consulate General of India and the Indian Cultural Centre, various events will be held throughout the country in major cities like Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban to promote this ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India.
In Johannesburg, notably two events will occur for ZEE fans to join in. These will be in Soweto on June 20 from 9am -11:30am at Elmon Malele Park, Kunene Street and on International Yoga Day itself, Lenasia Stadium will be open from 8:30am -10:30am for scholars to join in.
International Day of Yoga will also be celebrated in Petermaritzburg, Polokwane, Nelspruit and Mafikeng.
Harish Goyal, CEO ZEE TV Africa, said "We are honoured to be a part in this great initiative. The practice of Yoga is celebrated not only for its health benefits but also for helping to achieve and maintain a balanced attitude in life."
