Tobacco threatens our health, development and economy. In conjunction with World No Tobacco Day, Zee Media organized various activities to spread awareness amongst the employees on the harmful effects of Tobacco on 31st May 2017. In line with this, two health camps were organized, one catered to Pulmonary Function Test in association with Jaypee Hospital and another was Oral Cancer Screening in association with Dharmshila Hospital. Both the camps saw a total footfall of more than 150 employees. The main motive was to enable employees to review their health status and receive Doctor's Consultation at the same time. Many of the employees took pledge to give up on their Smoking Habits.
The major highlight was the Talk on "Cancer due to Lifestyle" by Dr. Anshuman Kumar, a well-known Oncosurgeon of India. His special area of interest are in cancer surgeries of head, neck and oesophagus. With more than 12 years of clinical experience in surgical oncology, Dr. Anshuman has developed various clinical and surgical techniques and protocol for management of complex cancers. During the session, Dr. Anshuman encouraged the audience to make necessary changes in their day-to-day life for a better tomorrow. He emphasized on the importance of forsaking tobacco intake in any form and implementation of balcony gardening, increased consumption of water and living a stress-free life by doing Indian exercises preferably yoga.
Zee Media HR Team took a very different way to create awareness amongst employees and to encourage them to quit smoking by placing beautiful flowers in the ash trays. This initiative was well appreciated by ZMCL employees.
