ZEE MUNDO has unveiled a programming lineup for the month of November dedicated to Shah Rukh Khan. Aside from being the month of the megastar's birthday, November is the exclusive worldwide premiere in Spanish language of one of his latest films, “Su nombre es Raees” (Raees), which will be available in HD.
The premiere and SRK's birthday provide the perfect reasons to do a programming stunt that serves to familiarize viewers with films that showcase the studio quality and strong plots of the movies produced in Bollywood and its biggest star who has developed a strong fan base in Latin America with the most notorious fan pages being in countries such as Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia and Argentina.
Aside from the premiere, ZEE MUNDO will be presenting SRK's biggest blockbusters, including “Chennai Express” which viewers only in Latin America and US Hispanic can watch via an exclusive streaming service available through www.zeemundo.com on the weekend of November 24th
Known as “The King of Bollywood”, SRK is one of the most powerful actors in Mumbai and the world, with more than 80 movies under his belt, and at 51 years old he is valued at more than 750 million dollars. Even so, there are many things people have yet to learn about him.
1. HE IS ONE THE HIGHEST PAID ACTORS AROUND THE WORLD
He was ranked number 18 on Forbes' list of best paid actors around the world, with an annual income of USD $38M. SRK continues to enjoy an incredibly illustrious career with starring roles in movies such as “Raees,” for which he charged in advance and also received a percentage of earnings. He also sponsors several reputable brands throughout Asia, and owns three production companies in India.
2. THEY CALL HIM “THE KING OF BOLLYWOOD”
Media outlets gave him this nickname because everything he touches turns to gold. SRK produces and stars in immediate box office hits, allowing him to have the last word in every step of the filming process. Crowned a romantic hero in the 90s, each of his 80 movies has been a hit, and he has received more than 200 awards and distinctions.
3. HE HAS ACTED IN MORE THAN 80 BOLLYWOOD MOVIES
Khan began his career starring in several TV sitcoms in the late 80s. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with “Deewana,” then went on to portray a villain in movies like “Darr” (1993), “Baazigar” (1993) and “Anjaam” (1994). His claim to fame was his lead role in a series of romantic movies, including “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” (1995), “Dil To Pagal Hai” (1997), “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” (1998) and “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham” (2001). He was heavily praised by critics for portraying an alcoholic in “Devdas” (2002), a NASA scientist in “Swades” (2004), a hockey trainer in “Chak De! India” (2007) and a man with Asperger's syndrome in “My Name Is Khan” (2010). His latest two movies, “Raees” (2016) and “Harry Met Sejal” (2017), have been widely received by the public.
4. THE FRENCH GOVERNMENT AWARDED HIM WITH THE COUNTRY'S HIGHEST HONOR
France awarded him with the title of Chevalier or Knight of the Legion of Honor, which is the highest title in the country given to both men and women who show extraordinary talent, at the national or international level. The French government recognized the actor's contributions and his ability to spread cultural diversity on a global level.
5. HE WAS BORN IN A REFUGEE CAMP IN NEW DELHI AND BECAME AN ORPHAN AT 20
