Maruti Suzuki, India's leading car company and ZEE Theatre, a special offering from the stable of the leading global content company ZEE Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., have come together as Maruti Suzuki Zee Theatre to bring a series of exciting plays across the country. The first in the series, The Class Act, a Silly Point Production is set to be staged in Mumbai at the TATA Theatre, NCPA, on Sunday, August 27th at 7:00 PM with a repeat performance on September 10 at the same time and venue.
Returning to stage after 2 years, the play is an English comedy that revolves around the chaotic activities that ensue when four stereo-typical students, a veteran Hindu theatre artist from Delhi who believes in the sanctity of theatre, a 50-year-old Parsi bachelor who lives with his father and loves his bike, a typical laid back Goan Christian lad and the protagonist, a clean shaven Muslim man, come together to learn acting under the supervision of an aristocratic stiff upper lipped teacher. The chaos further accentuates when a fifth character, a wannabe actress joins the class.
Meherzad Patel, Director on re-launching the play says, "In The Class Act - the actors make up 50% of the script with their input and dedication to the play - the special novel brand of humour comes from us being one big happy family of actors - that's what defines Silly Point Production - I can't write without them and they can't do this kind of comedy without me - every single actor brings so much to the table and adds so much that I refuse to take writer credit - for the class act - alone."
The Class Act stars Danesh Irani, Sajeel Parakh, Danesh Khambata, Maanvi Gagroo, Afshad Kelawala and Meherzad Patel.
Mr Tarun Garg, Executive Vice President, Marketing -Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., says, "Theatre is one of the oldest and tasteful forms of entertainment that propagates our core thought of togetherness.
