The students of Zee Institute of Media Arts (ZIMA), on an invitation by the Press Council of India (PCI), got the rare opportunity of listening to Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a function organised to commemorate National Press Day in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on Wednesday November 16, 2016.
The Prime Minister advocated press freedom with the hope that the media would take care of its conduct through self-regulation. Referring to rapid changes in media functioning, he emphasised on the growing need of veracity and accuracy of content since there is little time available for corrections and improvement in the copy in view of pressures emanating from the profession and the industry.
Mr. M. Venkaiah Naidu, Minister for Information and Broadcasting conferred National Awards for Excellence in Journalism-2016. Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, was also present at the function while Mr. Justice Chandramauli Kumar Prasad, Chairman of PCI, presented a welcome note.
